Fitness Training Made to Be Fun

April 30th, 2009 by Administrator

Fitness training doesn’t have to be the struggle it has the reputation to be as long as the person is completing an activity he enjoys. If he likes water, walk alongside the beach. If she likes to go fast and has places to go, invest in a skateboard or bicycle. If he wants to get more involved in cardiovascular activities, jog around the block or walk the dog. But the easiest way to maintain a workout is to find something that the person already likes doing so it’s more fun, less work.

Fitness training can also include workout tapes, but those can become monotonous after awhile if the person regularly uses them, so even be picky with the workout tape. If she likes hip hop music, invest in a hip hop dancing tape. If he wants more aggressive workouts, try different levels of the same instructor so when one becomes predictable, a DVD of the intermediate workout can challenge him. And when he gets to the level of advanced but is having a lazy day, the beginner DVDs will come right back in handy for fitness training.

And for those who don’t really want to go anywhere and don’t have the coordination to deal with workout tapes, try working out with weights or doing sit-ups while watching television or talking on the telephone. It’s easy to lose count, so the person will probably have more of a workout.

When doing any type of fitness training, always have water nearby. It has no calories and keeps the person’s heart level down. And if the fitness training gets too tough, stop immediately and rest.

Materialism and Individuals

April 30th, 2009 by Administrator

Perhaps I could make a lot of money by founding a Thinker’s Anonymous organization. It surely is the rage to eschew thinking.

Helping people achieve great things is worthwhile to your SELF.

If you do not know your SELF you will hurt those you try to make do what you want them to. This macho control mechanism built into materialistic society is exemplified by professionals and experts who are giving drugs to manage ‘money-trees’ (students and Ritalin, or old people and ECT especially) and managing bureaucracies or saying they are ‘just’ as they lead us to in-’just’-ice: 1. War 2. Religion and divisive ethnic ideologies - rather than ecumenical spiritual goals 3. Hate for others and putting women in a second class status 4. Insisting on education to make others BE like them 5. Pursuit of power rather than LOVE and creativity

It is summed up in the words of the noted journal The Economist in their millennium issue - they call what we have ‘an inhumane bureaucracy’ as they enumerate the outcome of the Napoleonic War’s institution of ’standing armies’.

Wholism is spiritual & ass-’holes’ are not.

Holism is not Wholism!

This is a response to a person who wanted the nuts and bolts of what I said in a detailed expose of Wholistic approaches that are in variance to the way of many social programs and our overall bureaucracy. It is probably part of the kind of thought that the Beat Generation, Hippies, Cynics like Jesus and Goths or other drop-outs that ‘turn-on’ to new paradigms and alternatives, have been seeing since the dawn of civilization.

‘The flower children and groupies are not often willing to do the work that many business types and academics have done. I have found what I think of as independent thinkers (Which is the main characteristic of a Hippie, I think.) in all social groups or walks of life. Michel Foucault and his students at the Sorbonne or Pierre Trudeau and Jean-Paul Sartre and his beau are established thinkers of the genre. This book and the work required of any forum seeking change will try to explore why they are so unable to get a larger audience to actually take the ethics they speak about and apply them in real world changes.

I will have to get past the Hegelian Being-ness and other confused Neo-Platonic rhetoric to the nuts and bolts of Gothic ideas and historical agendas again. I guess the cultivation of positive emotions can assist in a therapeutic manner which will enable people. But wishful-thinking alone will not solve much of the ethical issues borne through constant power-mongering or people needing to fight each other for more of that elusive and fictional One Pie. Let us strive to reduce any cherished illusions of our history if they do not stand the test of common sense for the good of all people. It may turn out to be an exploration of the sublime inter-connectiveness and I hope I will be fair in seeing the positives that Machiavelli and the likes of Carlyle can offer real thinkers in the present as well.’

Fabuluous New Wedding Band Styles

April 30th, 2009 by Administrator

You’ve decided to tie the knot and now you’ve got some wedding band shopping to do. Your wedding band is a ring your going to wear all the time so it’s important to choose a ring you “really like,” one that truly “touches your heart.”

A reader survey completed recently in Bride’s magazine found 80% of respondents wanting a “traditional” wedding. In todays world what defines traditional is wide open for interpretation. Many weddings will have the traditional core but be customized to the bride and grooms personal tastes.

Traditional usually means white gown, church ceremony, full reception, completed with a honeymoon getaway. When it comes to wedding bands tradition and modern style are quickly entwining to produce some fabulous new wedding band styles. So you ask, what is the hottest styles in wedding bands?

Well, one think is for certain. Diamonds are still a girls’ best friend and are very quickly becoming a guys best friend too! In the past few years there has been a record number of diamond wedding bands being purchased for guys. Men have finally figured out what women have always known about diamonds. Diamonds are elegant, classy, and sophisticated. The most popular bands are flush settings in gold, platinum, or titanium. Usually the diamond is one carat or less. Another popular setting is small diamonds placed geometrically around the entire band.

So they say what’s good for the goose is good for the gander right? That’s why today’s brides have no problem wearing matching bands to their new husbands. After all women have always had the finer taste for the beauty of diamonds. Today brides and grooms have many choices.

They can buy matching bands or similar bands that accent each other. Designers are now producing coordinating engagement rings and wedding bands. So rather than choosing a set, you can now mix and match. This allows for more personal taste and for more uniqueness.

Both titanium and platinum are very hot. Both brides and grooms are jumping on the bandwagon for something different that the traditional yellow gold of the past. Guys and gals alike appreciate the beauty of platinum and the wearability of titanium. Today’s platinum is no longer mixed with yellow gold. Today high polished platinum is a star all by itself. The popularity of titanium wedding bands is also growing leaps and bonds. Titanium has the same look as platinum with two advantages it’s considerably cheaper, and its much more durable than platinum.

Jewelers today are borrowing design ideas from the past. Delicate scroll work and intricate patterns are very popular. Designs from the Art Nouveau and Edwardian period are very popular with their flowing geometric designs. Designs are no longer stiff but flowing and fluid. Custom designer wedding sets have become very vogue. Today wedding sets are chosen with the same thought a woman puts into purchasing clothing. Women are much more in tune to their entire fashion statement and since their wedding rings are worn all the time they want their rings to reflect who they are. They also like to choose wedding rings that will work with other jewelry pieces they wear.

The most popular diamond shape is the round brilliant cut, however many women are choosing some of the more non traditional cuts for their engagement rings. Emerald cuts, baguettes, and marquis cuts have grown in popularity in the last few years.

Today’s choices allow both bride and groom to combine tradition with choices that reflect their personal tastes and their own personalities. Never has their been a time in history when the design of wedding bands and engagement rings was so intricately tied to the individual who would wear it. Price, selection, and style are as wide as the imagination.

Fixed-Line Broadband Will Soon be Left Behind by Mobile Technology

April 30th, 2009 by Administrator

The analyst firm, Frost and Sullivan, has published a report, which estimates the number of 3G LTE users at 22.4 million by the year 2013. The report, titled “European Mobile Broadband Melee between 3G LTE and Mobile WiMAX”, describes the appeal of mobile broadband connections to the users, and predicts that this will drive up the number of mobile broadband subscribers significantly in the coming years. It also mentions that the number of mobile broadband users would soon surpass the number of fixed-line users.

In comparison with last year’s figures, it was found that mobile broadband users now download around six to fourteen times more data. The average download rate currently is at 5GB per month and is likely to keep increasing for some time.

The next generation of mobile broadband service is likely to evolve into a system whereby operators can make use of open access policies, under which a device will be able to connect with any kind of network. This is in stark contrasts with the model being used today, under which a user can make use of only one dedicated network. The report however refuses to take sides with either of the two rival mobile broadband technologies - LTE and WiMAX.

Frost and Sullivan are of the opinion that pricing of mobile broadband services should be revamped. At the release of the report, Programme Manager at Frost & Sullivan, Luke Thomas, said that operators must come up with better strategies and pricing in order to differentiate from the competition. He emphasised the importance of evolving innovative pricing models, which are both transparent and easy to figure out for the users.

He also recommended the use of quality-of-service methodologies and innovative techniques like prioritised access to provide the users with a better internet experience.

Employee Compensated for Employer’s Inadequate Communication of Workplace Practices

April 24th, 2009 by Administrator

Proper communication about changes in working practices, small or big, is crucial for functioning of an organization and the safety of its employees.

Camas UK Ltd., a manufacturing company, had to fork out a compensation of £6,000 to an employee who injured his thumb in an accident at one of their units. The accident occurred due to improper communication of workplace practices by the employer.

Anthony Lacey, the injured worker, was away from work for almost a quarter of a year due to the accident. He broke his thumb while replacing a machine’s face plates. The problem was caused due to a change in the practice of application of glue on the pads, which resulted in the magnet coming off and falling on Lacey’s thumb. The previously used practice of applying glue around the periphery of the pads had been changed to applying it on the bottom and top, which meant that the amount of force required to pull them off was much lesser.

Camas UK settled the case out of courts and accepted liability for the accident.

A GMB union spokesperson, Andy Worth, said that the accident could have been easily prevented if the employer had shown care in ensuring correct and timely communication of the changes in practices to Mr. Lacey.

Thompsons Solicitors’ Laura Hadfield said that it is the employer’s responsibility to inform the employees of any changes they bring about in regular procedures, and it is this necessary communication that was not made in this case, leading to the unfortunate incident.

Staff who had undergone first aid training from Workplace Law could have offered on the spot assistance at an accident like this one.
