Heard on 300 radio stations around the world, Laura Schlessinger’s voice is one of the most distinct in American radio history. It is also the voice on many tough-love, morally conservative advice, aired generously through her globally syndicated radio show.
A radio personality since 1974, Laura Schlessinger reportedly reaches more than eight million listeners per week. She has penned twelve books, including In Praise of Stay-At-Home Moms and the New York Times bestselling tome The Proper Care & Feeding of Husbands. She has likewise authored “Why Do You Love Me?” and three other children’s books. Schlessinger can also be read on her monthly column for NewsMax.
To date, Laura Schlessinger is the only female winner of the Marconi Award for Network/Syndicated Personality from the National Association of Broadcasters. She is a recipient of the award for Exceptional Public Service from the Office of the Secretary of Defense as well as numerous others for sailboat racing.
“Doctor” Laura Schlessinger graduated from Columbia University with a PhD in physiology in 1974. From the University of Southern California, she obtained a post-doctoral certificate in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling. She later taught biology at the University of Southern California and psychology at Pepperdine University.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger has been married to Dr. Lewis Bishop since 1985. Deryk, their child, served the US Army in Afghanistan. As his mother, Laura Schlessinger supports Operation Family Fund, which benefits families of US soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Schlessinger holds a black belt in martial arts.
